PROF. A. M. ONYEOZU

Ochi Ohna Ikwerre XIII (2014 - 2016)

Born February 3, 1946, in Elele Alimini, Emohua LGA, Prof. A. M. Onyeozu was a distinguished academic and educator. Academically, he attended St. Joseph's Primary School Elele Alimini where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1959. His secondary education was at Kalahari National College Buguma where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WAEC) in 1965. He studied in three Universities: University of Ibadan where he obtained a 2-year diploma in Adult Education and Community Development (1975), University of Manchester (UK) where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma and Master Degree (M.Ed.) in Adult Education and Community Development, and University of Lagos where he obtained a Ph.D. in Adult Education and Community Development in 1994.

 

Traditionally, he held the title Ochi Ohna Ikwerre XIII and served as President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre from 2014 to 2016.

His contributions to Ogbakor Ikwerre and the Ikwerre nation were significant. After obtaining his diploma, he worked in the Ministry of Rural Development (1976-1978). Upon returning to Nigeria in 1980, he continued his job in Rivers State Ministry of Rural Development until 1981. He then secured a job in the administrative sector of University of Port Harcourt as Assistant Registrar and rose to the rank of Principal Assistant Registrar. At the completion of his Ph.D. He was converted into academics as Lecturer II in the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, where he rose to the rank of Professor in 2010.
