CHIEF THE HONOURABLE ORABULE ADELE MON, JP

Ochi-Ohna Ikwerre VII, Wozuzu VI (1988 - 1992)

Born November 28, 1924, in Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor LGA, Chief The Hon. Orabule Adele was a distinguished lawyer, public servant, and cultural icon. Academically, he attended St. Michael's Christ Army School (1935-1937), Holy Trinity Primary School (1944), and Enitona High School Port Harcourt where he earned his Junior Cambridge Certificate (1948) and Senior Cambridge Certificate (1950). He studied Transport Economics in England, earning professional membership with the Chartered Institute of Transport (MCIT) in 1965. He enrolled at the Inns of Court School of Law in London (1966), was called to the English Bar at Lincoln's Inn (1970), and to the Nigerian Bar (1973).

Traditionally, he held the titles of Ochi-Ohna Ikwerre VII and Wozuzu VI. He served as President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre from 1988 to 1992.

His contributions to Ogbakor Ikwerre and the Ikwerre nation were groundbreaking. He was the first lawyer from his community to study abroad, the first to qualify as a Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln's Inn, and the first Notary Public, Solicitor, and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria from his area. He served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Rivers State (1985), General Manager of Rivers State Transport Corporation (1974), and Commissioner for Petroleum, Labour, and Field Administration. He founded the law firm Orabule Adele & Co., served as Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association Port Harcourt Branch, and was a member of the NBA's National Executive Committee. A proud bearer of his heritage, he refused to anglicize his name or identity, standing firm in his Ikwerre roots and encouraging others to do the same. He was actively involved in cultural associations from his student days in the UK, led the Rivers State Students' Union, and remained deeply engaged with Ogbakor Ikwerre. He passed in 2025, leaving an indelible legacy as a towering symbol of dignity, intellect, faith, and cultural pride.
